House for Rent

This 3600 sq. ft. house is the largest house on the largest residential lot in Hazel Park, and it was completely remodeled in 2012. It is situated in a very safe, quiet, tree-lined suburb north of 9 mile road near I-75, two blocks from the library and city hall.It features a large granite and stainless kitchen with breakfast bar, 2 living rooms, 2 dining areas, a huge wrap around porch, 6 spacious bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 staircases to the second floor, a full basement, a convenient 2nd floor laundry, detached garage, new insulated windows and a new high efficiency furnace with central air conditioning. High-end appliances are included. The huge, fully fenced yard provides paved off-street private parking for more than 6 cars. Snow removal and grass cutting is provided.Shopping, dining, and transportation are all within easy walking distance. Downtown Royal Oak and Ferndale restaurants and nightlife are less than 2.5 miles away! Downtown Detroit is an easy 11 minute commute on I-75.This house normally rents in multi-year year increments to dental and/or medical students who apply as a group at the beginning of their program. Do not wait to make an appointment to view it- historically we lease it quickly and for several years at a time. The management team is responsive and is very stable and easy to deal with. The property is fully inspected and licensed.Currently occupied by a graduating group of UDM dental students. They are available to talk to if you would like their honest opinion of the management, neighborhood, commute time, or anything else! The property will be available approximately June 1 but there is some flexibility. The price averages $475 a month per person, but some bedrooms are larger than others, so the students traditionally have made price adjustments within the group to make things equitable. Please call Mike 586-419-2337 for a showing or for more information.

Ramadan Mubarak

To all who observe Ramadan!

From the Office of Mission Integration:

One of the gifts of being at a Catholic institution in the Mercy and Jesuit traditions is being encouraged to lean into the riches of one’s religious faith or humanist commitments to be sustained in difficult times. The holy month invites believers to a time of fasting, prayer and reflection and will conclude on the evening of May 23, leading to the three day celebration of Eid al-Fitr or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast.”

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. Quran 2:185

Invitation to take a survey

In an effort to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on dental education, the University of Saskatchewan has initiated a research project that will evaluate the anxiety and stress of dental students and faculty on the COVID-19 pandemic period. The study consists of an anonymous online questionnaire to be completed by dental students and faculty members. This research project has been approved on ethical grounds by the University of Saskatchewan Behavioural Research Ethics Board (# 1941).  Here, we would like to mention that there are no known risks associated with this study, and all information will be stored on secure servers accessible only by the PI (Dr. Siqueira). Participation is voluntary, and participants can choose to stop at any time without penalty. However, once the participants submit the questionnaire, their data will not be able to be removed. https://uthtmc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ehbEPtm06LPNuK1  If there is anything about this study or the participation of your students and faculty that is unclear or that you do not understand, you may contact us at 306-370-5585 and/or email. walter.siqueira@usask.ca.
