July 4 Reading

Dr. Roy Finkenbine, Professor of History at our McNichols Campus, was chosen as one of 70+ participants from around the nation who are cooperating in a dramatic reading of Frederick Douglass’s 1852 speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July.” This speech tempers our patriotism with a stern reminder of what yet needs to be done in terms of racial justice.

The online event was sponsored, coordinated, and edited by the National Park Service. The recording is available here:

Social Justice Resource Guide

University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry now has access to a resource to develop our understanding and application of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).  The Social Justice Resource Guide was created by McNichols Campus librarian Rebecca Tull.

This guide provides an easy access resource to learn and contribute to DEI; however, it is not an exhaustive list. The Diversity and Inclusion Student Roundtable (DISRT) welcomes your help with the development of the Dental DEI Dashboard-COMING SOON.  Please feel free to contact Melvin Lunkins with suggestions and/or feedback.
