Our Aetna student health insurance plan has opened its mid-year open enrollment period. Between now and 1/31/23, students can enroll in the Aetna plan online for health insurance coverage from 1/1/23-5/29/23. If you enrolled in the annual plan in August or September, you do NOT need to enroll again now. The mid-year open enrollment period is for those students who are losing other coverage at or around the end of 2022.
The cost for enrolling in Winter Term coverage from 1/1/23-5/29/23 is $995, which will be billed to your student account if you enroll. Students who are graduating in 2023 should watch their student accounts closely to make sure that the charge comes through and is paid prior to graduation.

Overdose Rescue Training
My name is Abier Alahmadi, and I am an Overdose Rescue Trainer serving with the AmeriCorps Community Training (ACT) Program at Wayne State University’s Center for Urban Studies. The ACT program aims to save lives by teaching community members in the tri-county region how to recognize an opioid overdose, how to administer Narcan (a life-saving opioid antidote), and how to perform hands-only CPR.
We are holding a Public Training for foster care families on Tuesday, November 1st at 5:30 pm pm virtually via Zoom. This training will allow community members an opportunity to learn how to save someone’s life during an overdose emergency. Our training sessions are free and typically take about an hour. After the training session, all participants receive a free Overdose Rescue Kit containing Narcan.
In the past 12 months, there have been 966 suspected opioid overdose deaths in Wayne and Oakland counties. Overdoses can happen anywhere, especially in public spaces. Be prepared in an overdose emergency by carrying Narcan!
I am reaching out to ask if you could circulate this attached flyer within your networks and community. The link to the RSVP Registration Form is on the flyer, but I have included the link below as well. Everyone is welcome to attend!
