Jacobi Dental Public Health Residency

The Department of Dentistry/OMFS at Jacobi Medical Center is pleased to announce a new Dental Public Health residency program. The Jacobi Dental Public Health Residency is a novel hospital-based program located in a Dental Health Professional shortage area in the Bronx, New York. The Commission on Dental Accreditation has accredited the program and it is designed to meet the certification requirements of the American Board of Dental Public Health. The program can enroll up to two full-time (12 months) and two half-time (24 months) residents yearly and residents receive a salary and benefits from the Committee of Interns and Residents.

The residency experience includes planned instruction, observation, and active participation in a comprehensive program that includes training in all aspects of dental public health. The program is co-located and academically affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine which enriches residents’ training and experience in research and interprofessional education. In combination, these components provide new trainees with the skills to assess population health needs and use data to drive health programs and system processes. Upon completion of the residency, Jacobi DPH graduates will have a broad-based community-level vision of health issues that affect populations as well as the ability to collaborate interprofessionally with other healthcare providers, community representatives, policy makers, and the public.

To be eligible to apply for the Jacobi Dental Public Health residency, one must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited dental school and must have completed a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or its equivalent from a US or Canadian School of Public Health. Foreign-trained dentists without these credentials are not eligible. We are currently accepting applications for a start date of July 1, 2022.

For additional information about the program please contact Dr. Nadia Laniado, nadia.laniado@nychhc.org.
