Sign Up to Give Blood @ Detroit Mercy Dental
As the pandemic wears on through the holiday season, blood drives and donations remain essential to the health of our communities. The American Red Cross currently has a critical need for blood and you can help by scheduling your donation for the blood drive we will be hosting on January 13thin the Special Functions Room by following:

All blood donations collected will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies. If a blood donation tests positive for COVID-19 antibodies, plasma from that donation may now help coronavirus patients in need of convalescent plasma transfusions. Safety is first priority. Each blood drive and donation center follows the highest standard of safety and infection control, including but not limited to:
- Spacing appointments to minimize contact between blood drive participants
- Pre-screening drive attendees to assess health markers prior to blood drive entry
- Requiring face masks for all drive attendees
- Wearing and changing gloves frequently
- Spacing donors 6 feet apart throughout the drive
- Enhanced cleaning practices throughout the blood drive

The Office of Communications is preparing our annual holiday greeting, and we need your help!
Usually, around this time of year, you would find us in the hallways looking for willing people to give us a “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas” for the camera, but as we all know, this year, things are different.
To keep the guidelines of social distancing, we are asking for you to record yourself and send it to us!
Feel free to include your family, pets or even your festive Christmas tree.
Please pick 1-2 prompts/phrases below to record:

Detroit Mercy’s 2020 in Six Words Competition – December 2020
We would like to invite all students and employees to submit, in SIX WORDS, a description, commentary, reflection or thought about 2020. Entries will be judged by a panel that includes faculty, student, staff and administrator representation. Fifteen finalists will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and have their entries along with their names published in Campus Connection. Additional submissions may also be posted.
To serve as inspiration, here’s an example from the New York Times Sept. 12, 2020, edition: Social distancing myself from the fridge.

Sweet Tooth Dessert Competition – Voting Open Now
The Student Government Association’s second annual “Sweet Tooth Competition” has concluded. Thank you to all participants for submitting creative and festive desserts!
SGA now needs help from the Detroit Mercy Dental Community to narrow down submissions to the top four. Please see the photos above and then use this link to vote on your favorite four by tomorrow (Tuesday, December 8) at 2:00pm. The top four will then be entered into the final round for voting on the @DetroitMercyDental Instagram page.
