We received a last minute need for VIP hospitality and artist merchandise volunteers at the event.Call time for volunteer training is 4:30 PM and volunteers are more than welcome to enjoy the concert for free. If you have any students who need service learning hours, we would LOVE to accommodate that opportunity for them.

DS4 Students: Delta Dental Community Commitment Award
Delta Dental Foundation has an exciting opportunity available called the Delta Dental Foundation Community Commitment Award for one of our Detroit Mercy Dental graduates. The award goes to one graduating dental student per year who commits to working in a designated high-needs area for at least one year after graduation. The amount will be $25,000 paid in two installments: $12,500 upon graduation; and $12,500 upon completion of your first year of work. The recipient will be announced and recognized at the Class of 2020 Awards Ceremony on May 7, 2020. The criteria are as follows:
- Awarded annually to a graduating dental student at Detroit Mercy Dental
- Student has demonstrated commitment to community service by committing to practice in an underserved community:
- Located in the state of the school in which he/she attended
- Minimum 1-year commitment immediately following graduation
- Underserved community must have received federal designation as a Dental Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) due to lack of dental care professionals in that community. A list of those communities can be found at: https://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,4612,7-132-2945_47514-176079–,00.html
- Should demonstrate educational debt
- Should demonstrate strong academic record, service and commitment to underserved populations
The application deadline is March 23, 2020 by 9:00am. Applications should include an updated CV, a 1-2 page personal statement, and verification of commitment to an HPSA (signed contract). What are Paczki?
Paczki (poonch-key) are a Polish tradition to use up ingredients on Fat Tuesday prior to Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday. Paczki, a special kind of doughnut usually filled with jelly, have spread through the Midwest from Polish neighborhoods. They are easily available in metro Detroit and have become a fun tradition for many in our area. Be prepared for long lines at bakeries this Tuesday! Want to learn more? Here are a few fun links:

Love Languages Lunchable
Whether you will celebrate Black Love Day, Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day, of Singles Awareness Day this week, we encourage you to take time to reflect on the important relationships in your life! Bailey Andersen will offer a Lunchable on Love Languages this week. Stop by for a brief introduction to love languages on Wednesday at 12:30 or Thursday at 12:00 in room 1400.
Weekly Fitness Classes
Jacob from Detroit Body Garage will be holding fitness classes on Tuesdays from 12-1 for all of Winter 2020. All classes will be held in the 4th floor fitness center on the Corktown Campus. Come as you are and work up a sweat!
ASDA Wellness: Yoga and Mindful Meditation
Yoga Thursdays are back! Come join ASDA Wellness this Thursday February 6th @ 5:45pm in the 4th floor for a restorative hour of yoga with Molly, a certified yoga instructor. If you can’t make it tomorrow, see the attached flyer for all of the dates that it will be offered this semester.
Additionally, next Wednesday February 12th @5:45pm in room 2440 we’ll be holding a Mindful Meditation workshop with a certified meditation teacher! It will be an hour long session in which we’ll explore various meditation techniques and practices. Come breathe with us!
